Running again.
I started running again this morning. Last night I chatted with Shannon Farrell and Dree Gideon about motivation and the like, so we agreed to support each other. They’re both well past me in the training, as today was day one, but we have to start somewhere.
I’m doing the coolrunning.com “Couch to 5K” plan along with Robert Ullrey’s podcast going through that plan, and day one seemed to go well.
I realized something halfway through the run, through. Natalie Goldberg has written more than once about her correlation between writing and running (I usually like to compare writing and kung fu), and when someone says “where do I start writing? How can I start?” I say “just write!” And then I realized that I had been looking for a way to start running, when the answer was “open the door and go.”
But I gotta say, the tools at RunningAHEAD are pretty damn awesome. (see the sidebar for my progress)
