Katie Holmes is kicking my ass

Progress:

I’ve lost count of daily wordcount this week because frankly it hasn’t been that impressive. I think I did about 4K this week. 115 today so far. Sigh. I’m going to post the total wordcounts here and figure out how much more time I have left and how many words left to write:

• WASTELAND: 10457 (out of 50K goal)
• UNDERGROUND: ~20500 (out of 80K goal)
• COWGIRL SECRET SPACE DETECTIVE SUPERHERO: ~7K (DONE: yeah, I’m not working on it anymore, but note that this is half my wordcount since I started keeping track.)

So the wordcount left is ~40K on WASTELAND and 59500 on UNDERGROUND. So nearly 100K left to write, and simple math tells me we’re needing 2222 words per day to catch up. OR I could bust my ass and write 2600 every day till next weekend and then write 2K a day for the rest of the time. Shrug. Regardless, I had a bad week and it’s hurting the wordcount.

Something that’s hugely gratifying is a whole new group of people are looking at Heaven now and commenting on it. Half of them don’t even know about Playing For Keeps, so I have no idea where the new listeners are coming from, but they’re listening, liking, and letting me know. They’re all wondering where Season 4 is. And I will tell you here, now, that it’s coming in March. When exactly depends on how fast I can write it, but it’s 1/5 done, essentially.

Here’s a secret: I post these progress reports for me, honestly. I like to watch my numbers creep up. It makes me happy. So count on seeing more of them, as it helps spur me on.

Katie Holmes hasn’t haunted my dreams lately. (I’ve had other disturbing writing dreams, yes, but let’s keep those private for now. You don’t need to know ALL my neuroses…) But I remember her. I remember that sad, superior smile. I remember that thing she was about to tell me. The thing that was sure to make me feel crappy about myself. And I continue to write.
