The News From Poughkeepsie – Day 50
50 days. Wow. And I nearly missed this one, too.
Settings Tuesdays
Math is foreign to me. I think it’s this way for many liberal arts majors. But when it’s used well in ficttion, it amazes me. It’s hard to weave in math and a good plotline and make it interesting to a lot of people.
My accountant called me today to discuss our options for filing. And she said many words – if we do X then we only owe Y and we’ll get Z back from the state but if we don’t do X then we owe V and get L back from the state… and I nodded politely and asked her to repeat it. Twice.
Still. I am convinced there’s a magic. Perhaps with brownies. (the fae people, not the food. although I suppose you could go that way too if you wanted.) Some intricate working within the tax system that the accountants and the IRS is in on, or controls. Or the brownies control them.
Tax brownies. Fear them. Write them, if you dare.
