Here it is. August 25. This is the day I need you to go to Amazon and purchase Playing For Keeps- you’re all doing it at once so we can attract the interest of people who perhaps do no listen to podcasts, or read blogs. This is the last move to attract other readers.

What else can you do? Glad you asked! Review the book. Tag the book. Blog it. Tweet it. (I’m @mightymur on Twitter). And know you have my utmost appreciation.

I’m scared. I’m excited. Let’s do this thing.

    Tag? Check.

Boatloads of happiness? Check and check.

  4. Ben says:

9:15 am East coast time and it’s already “Temporarily out of stock.”

    A complete sell out!

    Go Mur!

  5. Jessica says:

Ordered and pimped! GO MUR GO!!!

  6. Matt says:

Got my copy as ordered – looking forward to reading parasite when I get the time – its harder to do that than listen Stories from the 3rd wave in the car…

  7. Chris says:

Just bought a copy and am looking forward to reading it!

    Cheers and congrats!

    Chris

  8. Jonathan says:

Just ordered my copy of the book. You’re currently #2 in Action Adventure and #6 in SciFi, and Amazon’s listing the book as sold out. Congratulations!

  9. [...] superhero novel published by a small press.  If you’re reading this on Monday, August 25, Mur’s looking to rush the Amazon charts.  It’s a great book, and I’m thrilled I’m going to have a chance to own a copy, [...]

  10. Greg says:

Congratulations Mur…… my current work situations gives me no surplus income and I can’t get a copy but I have been telling friends about PFK…..hopefully some of them get copies….

    Again good luck….

    Gl

  11. CharlesP says:

It’s at #30 on Amazon right now (and I’ve been commenting on the PFK site instead of this one, forgetting you’d have things in both places).

  12. Captain Thanard says:

Congratulations, Mur! #1 in Sci-Fi, #1 in Action-Adventure, and #30 in books. And the day is still young!

  13. Alphanitrate says:

ordered my two this morning ” one fur reading, and one to look purdy.”

    Also picked up MWS book.

Don’t forget to leave your reviews!!!

  14. Scott says:

I wasn’t sure if amazon.co,uk would do so I waited until late morning UK time before I went onto amazon.com and got it there. I have ordered it but I think it was out of stock or something.
It looks like you will be reprinted. That should make them sit up and take notice!

  15. CharlesP says:

Swarm uses POD technology so their presses will be working overtime to catch up to Amazon… where PFK is now #20 overall

  16. CharlesP says:

BTW the current #15 Paper Towns is from John Green who’s two previous YA books have been wonderful and with great nerdy characters (reminded me of highschool in good way) if I wasn’t so impatient to get PFK in my hands I might have ordered those two together (his book isn’t out till mid October).

  17. smthng says:

    3:45 EST – #20 overall (so far) – Rock! :) Congrats!

  18. Randy says:

It’s number 20 currently. Way to go Mur!

I hope my copy arrives soon.

  19. Deb A says:

Argh! Went to Amazon to pick up a copy and was presented with “temporarily out of stock”! I’m glad to see it, but I wanted a copy now. Guess that will teach me to wait too long.

    Congrats on the book, Mur!

  20. Samantha says:

Up to #20 in books. Woo :D

  21. Mur said something on the FAQ about the publisher being POD, so the “out of stock” message is irrelevant, FYI.

I ordered my copy. Congrats on the stats, Mur!

  22. Christof says:

    Hey Mur,

I’m so psyched for you! I just bought my copy and gave the Playing For Keeps book launch a long plug on my podcast, The Leviathan Chronicles, over the weekend. You and your awesome book rock, Mur!

  23. Maureen Paolini says:

Just went online to order and the website says it is not in stock and they’ll send it to me when they get some in. I guess that means they’ve sold out all they had on hand. A good thing I got to hear the story or the waiting would stink… So I also ordered Philipa Ballantine’s Chasing the Bard and Digital Magic to read while I wait.

  24. V says:

    @Ben and @Scott
    FAQ #5:
“Your book is listed out of stock!”

    Mur’s answer:
“My publisher uses POD technology, so this is meaningless. You’ll get your book in a timely manner, I promise. Ignore this.”

  25. Will S says:

Currently #19 on bestsellers, #10 on hottest new books, and #2 on Science Fiction and Fantasy (only beat in that category by a Stephanie Meyer vampire book, and to come close to that selling juggernaut is pretty impressive).

  26. Tracey Rhim says:

Yay! Amazon finally shipped my copy of PFK that I ordered on the 25th. I’m usually content to be a creepy little lurker, but I just had to add my own (belated) chest bump to the mix. Good on you, Mighty Mur! No one deserves this success more than you. Not only has your hard work entertained me, but it’s also inspired me–I’m actually WRITING again! I’m keeping up with my daily word count (usually) and I’m feeling more and more confident in my ability to tell a compelling story. This in turn allows me to hold my head a bit higher when dealing with dastardly villains (Boo! Hiss!) and a crappy day job. You are my inspiration, my hero–unless you prefer heroine! Oh, excuse me. Please forgive the gush. Gosh, does this make me one of Mur’s Bitches?

  27. mooney says:

Just got my copy in the mail today! I can’t wait to get out of work and dive in.

  28. Alphanitrate says:

Wahoo! My Keeps has finally shown up today!!!

  29. OmniGeno says:

I’m going to be a copycat and also say that my copy came today. Yesss!

  30. OmniGeno says:

By the way, looking at the actual book in my hand, I feel really happy for you, Mur. I also feel really happy for myself, because I have a hard copy of the best superhero novel ever.

  31. I just got my copy of Playing for Keeps in the mail, and I have to say how wonderful it is to hold it in my hands. Someday, I hope to have a whole bookshelf full of Mur Lafferty books.
