In fact, I came at The Rookie with a triple disadvantage- Scott describes it as Star Wars meets The Godfather meets Any Given Sunday, and I don't like any of them. But I liked his previous works, so I gave it a shot.I'm very glad I did. The rules and strategy of the game are nearly irrelevant. The story is much more about the characters than the game. Scott does a particularly brilliant job of taking each species' stereotypes, and drawing individuals out of them.
