The Pool of Fire… I think that was the first science fiction I ever brought home from the library, I didn’t get through it because the plot was above my grade level, but I think the very thought of me bringing it home from the library told my mom what portion of her tastes in juvenile literature would keep me reading literature (instead of juvenile science books… which somehow wasn’t good enough)
